As you may have seen on another page during winter
we place our caravan in Valmetal, Sauerland (Germany).
From Arnhem (NL) it's about 2 to 2 1/2 hour's drive (depending on traffic, of course). From Arnhem you go to Oberhausen - Dortmund - Arnsberg - Meschede - Bestwig - Ramsbeck - Valme
It's a nice, quiet, campsite not too far away from Winterberg and close to the longest piste" (slope) in Sauerland e.g. Bödefeld-Hunau.
The name of the site is camping Valmetal and is run by Herr Bürger and his wife.
In winter we either go for a nice walk, mountain biking or some skiing. The latter is of less interest, because we are, what you call, quite experienced and the slopes in Sauerland are too easy for us now. But just for a day, it's nice. And if there's enough snow, it's nice to do some "langlaufen" (cross country).
Of course you don't have to go there by caravan
because there's plenty of "gasthofs". One nearby is "Gasthof
Rüppel".
