After being to La Plagne twice, Les Arcs was on our list. We went there in March 2000.

Going there was not a real problem since it is the same as to La Plagne, only a bit further on the same road.

Unfortunately, both places as well as Tignes and Val d' Isère are on the same road and all very popular. That means heavy traffic from Lyon on and in case of an accident, delays. As we found out both going to and coming from.

Les Arcs though as ski-resort pleased us very much. We were located at Arc 2000 ,which has a narrow road to and from the parking place and apartments, which might cause some problems on changing days. But once settled, there is easy access to the slopes.

We found Les Arcs gave more opportunities for beginners and more experienced skiers and was more "friendly", cozy or however you'd like to call it

As for the "villages" itself, I think La Plagne is nicer, although we mostly went to Belle Plagne and Plagne Bellecôte.
